I started General Assembly in 2009 as a way to sell my art work in a tough economy. I'm a painter, digital media artist and designer, and began silkscreening while working as an Artist Educator at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA.
I've spent years working on a painting series, Long Story, which explores fractured narratives in visual art. After moving to Brooklyn in 2009, I began printing images from the series on t-shirts to get my work into the public eye.
However, I wasn't prepared for how much fun it is to make things for people. Being able to produce someone's new favorite t-shirt – something I hear over and over again – is very rewarding. I hope you enjoy wearing General Assembly shirts as much as I enjoy making them!
